Iowa Is Losing Doctors and Gaining a HealthCare Crisis
Iowa ranks 44th in the nation for doctors per capita. For OB-GYNs specifically, we are dead last in the country.

Rural clinics are closing. Iowa hospital safety has sunk near the bottom of national rankings.
And Congress recently passed a budget that cuts Medicaid — a vote cast by Iowa's own representatives in Washington.

And the cancer numbers are alarming: Iowa is #2 in the nation for overall cancer rates, and #1
for new cancer diagnoses. Only 6 states in the country have rising cancer rates, and Iowa leads them. 87 of Iowa's 99 counties now report cancer rates higher than the national trend.

Iowa's ratings are going in the wrong direction. But Iowans have a voice — in statehouses and in Washington. Iowa's congressional delegation voted to cut Medicaid, a decision that is already impacting rural hospitals and health care access across the state.
